CSKA's Wernbloom backs Celtic's Lustig after Sweden criticism

Pontus Wernbloom has come to the defence of Sweden teammate Mikael Lustig after he was the subject of internet bullying.

The Celtic right-back was in the firing line after he failed to stop Ukraine star Andriy Shevchenko's front post header in their opening Euro2012 match on Monday night.

Lustig was guarding the front post as Shevchenko glanced his header in between the Swedish defender and the upright to make it 2-1 in Kiev, with the Ukrainians holding on for a win, and the Hoops full-back has subsequently copped plenty of flack on the world wide web.

But CSKA Moscow's Wernbloom has backed his teammate, saying he has been able to deflect the criticism and get ready for tonight's clash with England.

"This is just bullying of Lustig. Whoever started it must be very pleased with themselves," he said.

"I think it's silly to hang someone for one mistake. A team is responsible for the loss.

"Mikael has taken the jokes well because he is a cool guy. But things like that shouldn't happen."
