CSKA Moscow boss Leonid Slutsky concedes they face an uphill task against Champions League opponents Inter Milan.
Inter go into the game defending a 1-0 lead.
"We must maintain the right balance between attack and defence," said Slutsky. "If we qualify without playing spectacular football, I am sure everyone will be happy, but obviously we have to score and to do so we must be more aggressive going forward.
"In any case, we cannot afford to forget the defence because if we concede a goal our task will become virtually impossible.
"However, I don't believe that the synthetic pitch will help us."
