CSKA ace Honda tops Asian WC qualifying scorers list

Japan star Keisuke Honda finished on top of the goalscoring list for the fourth round of Asian qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.

On the road to Brazil, the CSKA Moscow forward netted five goals in seven appearances to be the top scorer in Asia, bettering a number of players who finished on three goals.

Honda scored in the 3-0 win over Oman in June last year and backed that up with a hat-trick in the 6-0 thrashing of Jordan just five days later. He added his third from the penalty spot in injury-time as the Blue Samurai forced a 1-1 draw with Australia in early June this year.

Honda's handful of goals beat teammates Ryoichi Maeda and Shinji Okazaki, Australia's Tim Cahill, Iranian pair Reza Ghoochannejhad and Javad Nekounam, Jordan's Ahmed Hayal and South Korea's Lee Keun-ho.
