Crystal Palace U23 coach Richard Shaw admits a decision over Hiram Boateng's status this season is due in the coming fortnight.
The 21-year-old had spells on loan at Bristol Rovers and Northampton Town last season, having previously made his Premier League debut for the club in 2016, when he came on as a substitute against Swansea City.
"Hiram has been terrific all pre-season, I have to say," Shaw told the Croydon Advertiser.
"He has come back off of his loan and his attitude has been first class. I am sure in the next couple of weeks we will know where Hiram is in terms of whether he is going out on loan again or whether he stays. But he is probably at an age now where he needs to go and play league football.
"But he has been a real major plus for us in pre-season, helping out the younger lads."
