Former Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri is an early contender for the Crystal Palace job.

Palace have been rocked by the sudden resignation of manager Sam Allardyce, who made the announcement last night.

TMW says Ranieri is now expected to be approached by Palace about a move to London.

Just in the afternoon, the Italian denied claims he was in talks with Watford about succeeding the departed Walter Mazzarri.

"There's been no contact," Ranieri insisted.
