Crystal Palace are expected to close a deal for Ajax defender Jaïro Riedewald today.

Voetbal International says a fee has been struck between the two clubs over the weekend.

Riedewald will join Palace in a deal worth an initial €9 million and will sign a multi-year contract later today.

"The Premier League is a very tough competition," said Palace boss Frank De Boer lat week. "If you want to succeed, you do not have enough with twelve or thirteen players for the first team. You need sixteen or seventeen.

"We therefore need a few extra players."
