Crystal Palace striker Benteke hopeful World Cup dream remains alive

Christian Benteke is hopeful he can make Belgium's World Cup despite a disappointing season with Crystal Palace.

The striker scored just three goals during the 2017/18 campaign.

On Belgium's chances in Russia, Benteke said: "We have to try and go to the end with the squad we've got. We've got a great chance to win this tournament. It won't be easy but we have to be ambitious.

"It's not just about them (Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne), it's about the team. I think every position we look good so hopefully we can have a good tournament.

"I'm going to wait for the list for the World Cup and hopefully I can go. If not I'm just going to take my time off then rest myself then go again."
