Paddy McCarthy will be sent out on loan by Crystal Palace according to manager Neil Warnock.
The 31-year old Irish defender has made the Eagles' subs bench just twice so far this season which has prompted Warnock to ponder a temporary spell away from Selhurst Park.
"The problem is you can only have seven substitutes and I like my forwards, I do," Warnock told the South London Press.
"Paddy is like anybody else, he's very important to the club and I think the club recognises that. That's why they've given him a new contract.
"If I think he needs games, there have been one or two clubs who have asked me about him. We'll probably decide on that over the next week whether to loan him out for a few games."
It has been suggested that McCarthy, who has been with Palace since 2008, will spend time with a Championship club during his time away from Selhurst Park.
