Former Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce has revealed that the Eagles job saved him from depression last season following his England dump.
Allardyce was forced to resign from his position as the England boss only after one game due to the sting operation carried out by the Telegraph.
The former West Ham and Newcastle boss took charge of relegation-threatened Palace in December and successfully secured their survival at the end of the season. However, soon after the conclusion of the season, he announced his decision to step down from the job,
"I am very grateful to Crystal Palace – hugely, hugely grateful," he told talkSPORT.
"Because Crystal Palace was one of the things I felt I had to do to overcome the depression and the disappointment that I had suffered in the short spell I had with England.
"I had to get back to work and I had to get my teeth into another position to get over and move on, move forward, and life is very good at the moment."
