Australia captain Mile Jedinak could be sidelined for the next two matches of his country's Asian Cup campaign.
The Crystal Palace midfielder sustained an ankle injury in Friday night's 4-1 victory over Kuwait in the Group A opener and will now miss Tuesday's meeting with Oman in Sydney.
Socceroos boss Ange Postecoglou also hinted that he could be without Jedinak for the vital third group stage fixture against South Korea in Brisbane on January 17.
"We'll assess it as we go for the Korea game," said Postecoglou.
"Obviously it's nothing major that will keep him out for a length of time.
"We'll assess it on a daily basis. Mile's pretty keen to play and if he's anywhere near fit he'll play. But at this stage we're taking it day by day."
