Crystal Palace have pulled back from talks for Santos midfielder Lucas Lima.
The Sun says the Eagles failed to land the Santos playmaker in the summer when, despite the offer of a lucrative four-year-deal, the Brazilian international opted to stay in South America.
Palace were lining up a fresh bid for the Brazilian international after the 26-year-old was convinced to join the Eagles by fellow countrymen David Luiz and recently departed Oscar.
But the £12million agreed in the summer is not what Palace were prepared to pay this month as the players contract expires in December 2017.
If Palace are to reignite their interest, they could face competition from a host of Chinese Super League sides who are prepared to offer Lima a lucrative deal.
