Crystal Palace News: Fosu-Mensah swap for Ings; Zaha and Benteke likened to Fulham heroes

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson believes Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke can be their first-choice attacking pair.

The Eagles have failed to score in 10 consecutive away games but the former England manager believes the pair's quality matched with work-rate and determination will go a long way in the coming weeks.

The 70-year-old said: “I think it definitely can. They obviously both have quality, but I thought they worked very hard as well and that was obvious too.

"If we can get that work rate from them and ally that with the quality that they both have in different ways; we know their quality moving forward and in Christian's case, we are hoping that is going to get better [after his injury].

"It reminded me a little of the [Bobby] Zamora and [Andy] Johnson partnership that I benefited from for so long at Fulham."

Meanwhile, Hodgson is keen to send Timothy Fosu-Mensah back to Manchester United.

Hodgson wants to end the Dutchman's loan in order to take on Liverpool striker Danny Ings.

Ings is fit again and could seek a loan move next month to convince his manager of his ability and he may have ambitions of gatecrashing Gareth Southgate's World Cup hopes.
