Crystal Palace News: Allardyce wants Van Aanholt at Everton; McArthur hails Hodgson 'experience'

Everton boss Sam Allardyce is determined to prise Patrick van Aanholt away from Crystal Palace.

ESPN says Allardyce has identified van Aanholt as a target in the transfer window next month, with Leighton Baines currently out injured.

The left-back has fallen out of favour at Crystal Palace, with Jeffrey Schlupp currently being preferred in his position.

Van Aanholt, who joined Palace from Sunderland in January for a reported £14m, has also been linked with Manchester City recently.

Meanwhile, Palace midfielder James McArthur says Roy Hodgson's experience has been key to their revival.

Hodgson has overseen a revival in recent weeks at Palace, with the Eagles now unbeaten in six games in the Premier League as they have climbed off the bottom of the table.

"The moment that made me realise how experienced he was was after we lost away to Manchester City [5-0] and Manchester United [4-0]," McArthur said.

"He did not panic. He was still the same person he was before those games. Totally chilled but knew the job was going to be hard.

"But from there we have turned it right around."
