Crystal Palace midfielder McArthur: Watford defeat caused by missed chances

Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur felt they let themselves down in defeat to Watford.

McArthur admits he could've done better with a chance handed him during the game.

“It was a tough game for us which we knew it was going to be. The first half we controlled but the second half was a poor start from us for the first 15 minutes, which cost us," said McArthur who paid tribute to Hornets goalkeeper, Ben Foster, but also felt that the side need to take the chances when they come along at this level.

“I had an opportunity which I should have scored but he's had a good game but we need to be more clinical in front of goal.

“It's about us trying to get in position to try and score and today we had numerous opportunities but we've not taken them and even though the goalkeeper has played well, from our point of view we've conceded two cheap goals. The first one obviously is a great finish but from us in midfield it's disappointing to let him get into that position whilst the second one is a bit fortunate to go into the top corner."
