Crystal Palace hoping to secure Man Utd target Clyne

Crystal Palace have confirmed they have offered promising defender Nathaniel Clyne a new contract.

The 21-year old full-back has recently emerged as a target for Manchester United but the Eagles are desperate to keep him at Selhurst Park with manager Dougie Freedman revealing he has been offered an improved deal.

"We've offered him a new contract, an improved one," Freedman told the South London Press.

"We're still trying to keep in line with the current wage structure and we're just waiting for Nathaniel to come back to us.

"I think he's progressing and should stay a little longer, he is getting better. He needs to be careful he doesn't jump ship too early but that is his choice."
