Departing Alaves coach Mauricio Pellegrino is in talks with Crystal Palace.

The Mirror says Palace have spoken to Pellegrino in their hunt for a new manager.

The 45-year-old led the newly-promoted La Liga club to ninth in the table and a place in the Copa Del Rey Final before stepping down last month.

Pellegrino, who had a brief spell at Liverpool under Rafa Benitez, is now keen on a return to English football as a manager.

Palace, still seeking a replacement for Sam Allardyce, held talks with Marco Silva before his decision to join Watford.
