Crystal Palace hero Salako: Pardew needs three signings

Crystal Palace hero John Salako hopes Alan Pardew can get busy in the summer market.

Salako says Palace can't "stand still" in the market and believes they may have to spend big to continue their progress, especially as Pardew is targeting a higher finish next season.

"Palace have shown they can be organised under Tony Pulis but now under Alan Pardew, they can play, and the team have gone on to a different level," he told the Croydon Advertiser.

"When I've watched them play, the backline are solid and the two holding midfielders have been brilliant. Then Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha have been terrorising people.

"And Glenn Murray probably saved the club up to £25m with the way he's played – he looked as good as anyone.

"He held the ball up, had intelligence, had aggressiveness and scored goals.

"There is real competition in the squad and a wonderful team ethic and spirit. You do have to look to improve the squad and I am sure Alan will.

"You need to do that to progress otherwise you stand still. You can't do that in the Premier League, but I don't think he needs that many new signings.

"I would say three or four would be perfect. If you stand still, we have seen how tough it is.

"Palace have been in the Premier League for two seasons – that was crucial – and next season the money goes up again.

"You can't be complacent; you have to keep pushing on."
