Crystal Palace fullback Joel Ward is happy to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a starting place.
Ward made his first start of the season in Palace's 2-1 defeat at Watford on Sunday, deputising for the suspended Wan-Bissaka.
“It's very positive and it's only going to raise the bar," Ward said of the emergence of Wan-Bissaka. “I don't see it as a negative I like to see it as a positive.
He added: “You just have to prepare right and be ready for the game, then anything can happen.
“For me I just take it a game at a time. It's always up to the staff, I work as hard as I can. It's my job to make sure I'm ready and fighting fit, ready to go again."
