Crystal Palace are favourites to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

The Daily Star says Palace are plotting to steal United loanee Johnstone from under the noses of Aston Villa.

The 24-year-old is currently enjoying a season-long loan spell at Villa Park.

Johnstone's been in excellent form this season, keeping nine clean sheets to help Steve Bruce's side to fifth in the Championship.

Roy Hodgson is desperate for a new goalkeeper with Wayne Hennessey desperately out of form, while veteran Julian Speroni's best years are behind him.

Both players are out of contract at the end of the season.
