Crystal Palace eye Everton’s McCarthy as contingency for Wilshere

Crystal Palace are planning to make a move for James McCarthy if they fail to attract Jack Wilshere from Arsenal.

Sky Sports suggests that the Eagles have again expressed interest in Everton's McCarthy who they see as a contingency plan if Wilshere heads to either Bournemouth or Roma.

McCarthy has already been linked with Palace in recent weeks and it is understood that Alan Pardew is making plans to go after him some time today.

However, Everton are in no mood to sell the Republic of Ireland international who has also attracted interest from Leicester City and Celtic.
