Crystal Palace are eyeing Stuttgart defender Georg Niedermeier.

The Sunday Mirror says Niedermeier - who is available for a cut-price £800,000 - fits the bill as a first January addition.

Niedermeier has rejected the Bundesliga club's latest contract offer and will become a free agent at the end of the season.

Sunderland and Norwich have also declared an interest in him.

But with Niedermeier not keen on a relegation scrap, Palace are the favourites for his signature.
