Crystal Palace defender Dann expecting day to remember for Liverpool icon Gerrard

Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard is set to play his last home game for the Reds against Crystal Palace on Saturday and Eagles defender Scott Dann is expecting a day to remember at Anfield.

The 34-year old midfielder will depart Merseyside to join MLS side LA Galaxy after spending 17 years on Liverpool's senior list.

Palace's Dann, a boyhood Liverpool fan, said: "It will be a privilege to be on the pitch against Steven.

"I didn't initially realise that his last home game was against us. It will be something to remember.

"I know what the atmosphere is going to be like and it is a great game and day to be involved in.

"Being a local lad I know the impact he has made and he is an inspiration to the people of Liverpool.

"I don't think, being a Liverpool fan, that I could see him playing for anyone else over here.

"He hasn't got the silverware in terms of Premier League medals that others have got.

"But what he has done for Liverpool - with the way he has probably carried them at times - ranks right up there with trophies."
