Crystal Palace consider shock move for Carlton Cole

Crystal Palace are considering a shock move for Carlton Cole.

The Daily Star says the 33-year-old is a free agent having returned from an abortive spell in Indonesia.

Championship sides Bolton and Hull are also understood to be interested in signing the former Chelsea and West Ham hitman, who was capped seven times by England.

Cole went to Indonesia to try his luck with top-flight club Persib Bandung, but struggled to make an impact after falling out with their coach Umuh Muchtar.

Palace and their boss Roy Hodgson are in desperate need of a striker following a knee injury to Christian Benteke, which will keep the Belgian striker out for six weeks.

Like Palace boss Hodgson, Cole was born in Croydon and still lives in the area.
