Crystal Palace chief Parish excited by Charlton Cup tie

Crystal Palace co-owner Steve Parish is looking forward to their Capital One Cup tie with Charlton Athletic.

Parish hopes his side will give the fans local bragging rights come full-time and has stated his desire to progress as far as possible in the League Cup.

"I miss regular fixtures against the likes of Charlton and Millwall because there's always a buzz around those games and it seems like an eternity ago that we last faced Charlton back in February 2013," he said in his programme notes ahead of this evening.

"For some of our newer fans this may be the first time you experience a true derby game and I'm sure you'll quickly realise what I'm talking about.

"Knockout cup football under the lights is always a great proposition in itself but when you get drawn against a neighbour there is an extra incentive.

"These games are normally tough battles but hopefully we'll be able to give you Palace fans the local bragging rights again by progressing into the fourth round draw.

"I've stated many times how much I want us to progress as far as we possibly can in this tournament as we attempt to get some silverware in the cabinet.

"Even though we're likely to see some changes to the side that played against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, we have quality throughout our squad and this is a real chance for one or two to make a claim for a starting spot in the near future."
