Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish sees Patrick Bamford as their Harry Kane.
Chelsea striker Bamford joined Palace this week on-loan.
"He was a top player in the Championship, so it was a no-brainer and a lot of clubs were in for him," said Parish to the Croydon Advertiser. "He spoke to Alan, who told him the right things for his football development, and he's a bright young man.
"He also has a very good agent, who is very intelligent and wants the very best for the player.
"The fact the move is in London, he doesn't have to change too much about his life and the Premier League is a big step up.
"He needs to learn the league and be under someone who can show him how it's all done and also for a team on the up.
"We're very excited to have Patrick. He's just a great lad and a great prospect.
"Let's hope he can emulate Harry Kane from last year and do similar things."
