Crystal Palace boss Pardew targets Newcastle keeper Krul

Crystal Palace are chasing Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul.

The People says Krul has two years left on a £35,000-a-week contract at St James’ Park.

But he was the fall guy for some of Newcastle’s defensive frailty last season, with only QPR letting in more Premier League goals.

Krul, 27, who has just got married in Majorca, will meet Toon chief Steve McClaren when he returns for pre-season training and seek assurances that Newcastle’s leaky defence will be strengthened.

Pardew – who walked away from St James’ Park because of owner Mike Ashley’s refusal to let him spend on new players – is ready to step in if McClaren fails to convince Krul to stay.
