Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew thanked the fans after victory over Southampton.

The manager's team ended a run of six successive defeats that had put intense pressure on his position while earning their first clean sheet since August after two goals from Christian Benteke and another from James Tomkins.

"The fans were massive and really helped us today," he said.

"They created a great atmosphere for us to play in and after six defeats in a row, there aren't too many clubs where you would get that.

"I am relieved for the fans because they really needed that win today. They stuck with us and that was important.

"And the satisfaction is for my players who delivered under pressure."
