Crystal Palace boss Hodgson insists Cup thrashing a one-off

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson insists their Carabao Cup thrashing by Bristol City will be a one-off.

Palace are bottom of the league after just one win from their opening nine games.

"The defeat sounds a lot worse than it really should have been," Hodgson insisted. "When a team has five shots on goal you don't expect them to score four.

"You also don't expect to give away at least two of the four in the manner we gave them away. That won't happen again.

"The players who made the mistakes are upset but they were human errors. Tactically the way we approached the game actually wasn't that bad.

"The statistics will prove that but it was a heavy defeat and it's one which we are all very unhappy with.

"And in particular because 2,000 fans travelled to Bristol and as a manager when you make a lot of changes you feel a lot of responsibility for that.

"They are entitled to be upset and you as a manager you feel responsibility for that."
