Crystal Palace boss Frank de Boer has welcomed the appointment of new sporting director Dougie Freedman.
Freedman rejoined the club this week as sporting director, marking a return to Palace less than five years after departing as manager to take charge at Bolton Wanderers.
"He is familiar with the Premier League and the club and its history," he told eagles.cpfc.co.uk.
"He worked here already and I think he can be very helpful for us, with organisation round the academy and the club.
"I always worked with a technical director before [at Ajax] and it takes some steam off of the things I have to be concerned about and he can fill that role of course."
