Crystal Palace to ban Selhurst Park coin-throwers

Crystal Palace say they will hand down bans to the culprits responsible for throwing coins onto the Selhurst Park pitch recently.

During the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on February 11, some fans from the Eagles section pelted coins at Magpies players with one actually striking visiting captain Fabricio Coloccini when he was celebrating Papiss Cisse's goal.

Palace hosted Liverpool in the fifth round of the FA Cup on the weekend where more missiles were thrown onto the pitch and the south London club has now vowed to take action if they can identify the guilty parties.

"We have conducted our own investigation into the incidents at our last two home matches, as well as making our CCTV footage available to the police," read a statement on Palace's official website.

"We take a zero tolerance approach to this sort of behaviour and, if the perpetrators are identified, they will be banned indefinitely from the stadium. If they are season ticket holders their cards will be made void without a refund.

"The stupid behaviour of a few supporters risks creating a negative image of our club and we would appreciate the help of Palace fans in identifying the culprits, who are not welcome at Selhurst Park.

"The club already has extensive security measures in place, including body cameras for stewards, and will continue to improve CCTV coverage at the ground."
