"I didn't know Mourinho personally before this, although I had heard good things about him," said Cruz.
"We had four years of a certain type of work with Roberto Mancini, now Mourinho has started with a different type of training than we were accustomed to.
"It is certainly a bonus for us players to work with the ball every day in training. He's a great character and has won so much in the past.
"Now he is going through a new experience. He has faith in us and that is reciprocated."
Mancini's lack of success in Europe was what effectively ended his career at San Siro, so Mourinho and his players are looking elsewhere.
"A team like ours has to try to win everything, then clearly the club, players and fans dream of winning the Champions League.
"I think the first thing we have to do is win the Italian Super Cup and try to start the Serie A season as positively as possible."
