LA Galaxy forward Jose Villarreal has joined Mexican club Cruz Azul on loan.
The 20-year old will spend 2014 on loan with Cruz who will then have the option to buy at the completion of his stay.
Villarreal is a Homegrown Player at the Galaxy, who appeared 31 times in all competitions in 2013, but will now continue his development in Mexico City.
"Sending Jose Villarreal to Cruz Azul provides one of our Homegrown players an opportunity to gain additional experience," said LA Galaxy general manager and head coach Bruce Arena.
"We'll monitor Jose's play with Cruz Azul and wish him well while in Mexico."
