American sportswear brand Under Armour has signed a five-year sponsorship and supply deal with top tier Mexican outfit Cruz Azul, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. From the beginning of the 2014/15 season, Under Armour will supply match day kits and training apparel to the eight-time Primera División champions and winners of the 2013/14 Concacaf Champions League. The deal extends across Cruz Azul's youth team levels.
The deal, financial details of which were not released, includes a package of in-stadium signage rights, marketing use of club trademark rights. Mexico City-based Cruz Azul becomes the second Mexican football team to sign with Under Armour, after Deportivo Toluca.
"Cruz Azul is dedicated to winning trophies and the passion they bring to the sport of football never wavers," said Matt Mirchin, executive vice president of global marketing at Baltimore-based Under Armour.
"They are one of the most decorated clubs in Latin America and their perennial domestic success continues to elevate their global significance. This partnership will go a long way in expanding our presence in football."
