Crouch: Tottenham have been their own worst enemies
Peter Crouch has admitted Tottenham squandered the chance to pull away from Liverpool in the chase for a Champions League finish.
Spurs - who missed the chance to go eight points clear of the Merseyside giants last month when they lost 2-0 at Anfield - have lost speed in their bid for a top-four finish with two successive draws since Dirk Kuyt's double sunk them in January.
"There was an opportunity earlier in the season," said England striker Crouch.
"We had a couple of draws and it was frustrating we couldn't pull away more. But I still feel we have enough ability.
"You look around the dressing room at the players who aren't playing and there is so much quality here. I still believe we have a real opportunity."
After three seasons at Anfield, Crouch knows how dangerous Liverpool will be now they have edged back into the top four.
"The previous seasons don't lie," Crouch said. "They have always been in the Champions League.
"They had a blip at the start of the season and people said other people can get in there but if I'm honest if you want to get in the Champions League then Liverpool will be the toughest side to displace.
"We have to make sure we are in there and in a position to do that."

***** crouch pav all day
Well yeah we have the talent but it isn't being utilised properly. Crouchy is an impact player off the bench, not a starter. If Harry didnt have this obsession with him and JD then pav would have had a chance before, robbie wouuld not have lost his confidence and gone off to celtic for a few months.
JD needs to be on the bench for a bit, far too sure of himself and his starting place, when we play crouchy then we tend to hit a lot of long balls and teams see that, its different him coming off the bench for that but we get sussed too easily and recent results show that.
Why is Kranck not playing - of all the midfield players he is the one most likely to score. Yes we miss Lennon but we have the players to be sitting a bit prettier than we are at the moment and if we dont see off Wolves, Bolton in the cup and then Wigan and Everton - and we should win all 4, then our season will probably be scrapping for 5th or 6th.
We, no actually Harry has to earn his keep and stop being so predictable and make sure JD knows we have alternatives i.e 5 in midfield adn not him up front.
