Crouch says Tottenham deserve their Champions League progress

Tottenham are celebrating reaching the next phase of the Champions League.

Peter Crouch believes Tottenham fully deserve their spot in the last 16 after they confirmed their progress with a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen.

Tottenham booked their place with an almost effortless destruction of the Germans at White Hart Lane.

Younes Kaboul followed up his derby winner by putting Spurs ahead with a sixth-minute volley before Luka Modric doubled the advantage in first-half stoppage time.

Gareth Bale missed a second-half penalty and rattled the woodwork twice before Crouch rounded off proceedings with a close-range tap-in with 11 minutes left.

Crouch told Sky Sports 1: "It's a great achievement, we want to give a good account of ourselves in the next round.

"It was a great team performance throughout the Champions League campaign: we have played very well and deserve to go through.

"Every big club wants to be in the Champions League playing against the best teams in the world.

"We want to get as far as we can for the fans and for us as well."
