Peter Crouch is confident he can play alongside Fernando Torres at Liverpool this season.
Crouch said: "We have spent quite a bit of money and the new owner has obviously backed the manager and it's exciting.
"I think that Rafa was after the backing of the owners at the start of the summer but they have proved they have the ambition that matches the manager and players.
"A club like Liverpool should be winning. We should be challenging for the league every year.
"Maybe Torres coming in can take some of the pressure off me with his goals, but I hope it's me that scores 25 in the season."
Crouch is deter mined to show Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez he was right to slap a £25million price tag on his head when clubs came looking this summer.
Crouch said: "Your dad is always a good person to turn to. I think that when I was going through a goal drought for the first time in my life, I did start doubting myself.
"My dad was my sports psychologist. I didn't hire one. I used to speak to my dad and ask him how he thought I could improve and what I could do.
"When I was feeling low my dad was quick to nip that in the bud.
"He was telling me how many people I had proved wrong over the years and how well I had done.
"He gave me back my self-belief and I've gone from there, really.
"I have certainly become a stronger person because of it and I'm reaping the benefits. Now I'm fully settled in at Liverpool I can't see myself going through a drought again. I'm full of confidence and I feel if I'm on the pitch then I'll score goals."
