French World Cup-winner David Trezeguet has ended his deal with United Arab Emirates club Baniyas due to a long standing muscle injury. Newspaper Sport360 reports that the 34-year-old striker agreed to end his one year contract because he would be unable to fulfil his playing deal.
The club's interim coach Salem al-Orfi praised Trezeguet's honesty, noting the Frenchman could have continued to be paid for remaining on the sidelines.
Trezeguet only featured in the club's opening league match and a Etisalat Cup match.
It was unclear whether Trezeguet will retire from all football or consider a move to another club if he recovers.
