Newcastle United youngster Sammy Ameobi is keen help the club clinch a place in Europe next season. The teenager's season was interrupted in January after he picked up a knee injury in the club's reserves outing with Wigan, but is now not far off returning.
"Now I'm just working every day as hard as I can to get back to full fitness.
"Coming back in the last nine games would be a great way to round of my first full season, and I'd love to get back out there.
"You just want to be back on the pitch and playing in front of these great fans. Hopefully I'll be able to do that this season.
"I'm trying to put myself up for selection again. That's the plan, so hopefully I'll be back sooner rather than later.
"Hopefully I can contribute to that when I'm fit. It's about the team and progressing.
"If I can play my part great, but if the team can get to Europe that's massive for the club." "It was good to be in the squad but then came the injury," the 19 year old told the Evening Chronicle.
