Criticism forced me to improve my game - Man Utd's de Gea

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea admits he took the criticism directed at him at the start of the season and turned it into a positive.

The 21-year old Spaniard was on the end of some harsh analysis from sections of the media for some shaky performances and costly mistakes at the beginning of his Old Trafford career but he insists that it helped him improve his game and become a better player.

"I did receive one or two bits of criticism at the start of the season," he said.

"But it only served to make me a stronger person.

"It encouraged me to keep fighting and keep working hard. The important thing is not to let yourself get down, because you can turn it around.

"Through hard work, I have waited for my chance and grabbed it.

"Fortunately now I am showing some good form. I hope this can continue right the way through until the end of the campaign."
