Critchley delighted as almost 2,000 fans see Liverpool U23 thump Everton

Almost 2,000 fans were at Prenton Park on Saturday to see Liverpool U23 defeat Everton in the mini derby.

The Reds thumped their neighbours 4-0.

The win was all the more significant given Everton were second in the Premier League 2 table and it stretches Neil Critchley's team's lead at the top to five points.

He told the Liverpool Echo: "Look at Rhian (Brewster), Danny (Ings), Harry (Wilson) - they're all goalscorers and they're all very good players. And when you've got Matty Virtue and Herbie Kane running forward as well then they can cause real problems.

"We scored four and we arguably had one or two penalties we might have got, and a couple of other chances but you can't be greedy.

"It was nice to keep a clean sheet as well, they had one chance first half and one second, and I thought we defended well as a team.

"Kamil's (keeper Grabara) has a relatively quiet night but his handling was really assured I thought, he had a couple of crosses and a couple which bounced just in front of him."
