Cristiano Ronaldo: I never said I wanted to leave Real Madrid

Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo has told president Florentino Perez he never threatened to quit the club last month.

While upset with the pursuit of an outstanding tax bill by Spanish authorities, El Confidencial says Ronaldo assured Florentino he never told friends he wanted to leave Real.

"I never said I wanted to leave Real Madrid," stated Ronaldo, quoted by El Confidencial.

"I commented at a dinner with teammates that I was hurt, that I felt mistreated, persecuted and treated as a criminal when I'd fulfilled my tax obligations following the instructions of my advisers and lawyers, both in England and in Spain.

"That was all."
