Crewe Alexandra want Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough to save them from relegation.
Crewe, bottom of League One, are hunting a new manager after sacking Steve Holland last week.
Former Liverpool and Nottingham Forest striker Clough's footballing ethics are attracting the Crewe board with former Carlisle boss John Ward also in the frame.
