Crewe Alexandra are battling to keep superkid Dan Smith away from Manchester City.
The highly-rated 16-year-old midfielder is likely to cost them in the region of £250,000.
Crewe boss Steve Davis said: "There's always been interest from City, but how far forward that has got I don't know."
