Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis is keen to develop closer ties with Wigan Athletic.

Davis is a keen admirer of the way that Wigan play, and was in attendance as a Crewe second-string beat their counterparts at Wigan 2-1 yesterday with two goals from Shaun Miller.

He told crewealex.net: "I've been busy trying to get a game arranged with Wigan in pre-season because they are a quality opposition and we have got a good association with them.

"They are on a real high at the moment after two fantastic results against Manchester United and Arsenal and I am really pleased for Roberto because he has got them playing really well.

"The way they play football in the Premier League, and the way we play football in our league should win the day, and I am pleased that we are both winning football matches playing the right way."
