Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis has called in former Manchester United and England sports psychologist Bill Beswick.
Davis has always been keen to use science for his club's benefit and snapped up the chance to have a morning with Steve McClaren's long-trusted aide.
He told The Sentinel: "It's a different view, a different person's voice. He's saying similar things to what we've been saying over the last two or three months, but it's a person with a great experience of speaking to top players.
"It was interesting. I've never seen the players so quiet and intrigued by what someone has to say. That can only be good and it was a very positive half-an-hour with Bill.
"He showed them some clips of rugby games, including the biggest turnaround when France beat the Kiwis after being hammered.
"It was very inspiring and everyone came out with their sleeves rolled up ready to play. The first thing I asked Duggy (Adam Dugdale) was what did he think of it - and he was pumped up and ready to go."
