Crewe boss Davis: Arsenal's Aneke must adjust to being marked man

Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis admits on-loan Arsenal midfielder Chuks Aneke is becoming a marked man.

Aneke is being man-marked by opposition teams this season.

"Chuks is still finding his way after joining us at the end of pre-season," Davis told The Sentinel.

"He still looks leggy and lethargic at times. We have to carry him defensively, but he can just play those passes.

"He sees those balls that few can and he can thread them through. He's got that quality.

"He'll find it hard being man-marked because he hasn't got the burning pace to get away. Instead, he has to work off the back of the marker to take him out.

"He's got to keep working away on those little angles and taking his marker away, perhaps to make space in dangerous positions for the strikers."
