Credit must go to Swansea's Spanish-speaking boss Rodgers says Kilmarnock's Shiels

Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels has heaped praise on Swansea City's Brendan Rodgers for making such an impact in the Premier League this season.

The Welsh club sits tenth on the English top flight table following Sunday's brilliant 3-2 win over Arsenal and Shiels, who worked with Rodgers at Chelsea, says his former colleague thoroughly deserves his success.

"I have known Brendan for a few years and I admire the way Swansea play. It is a credit to them," he said.

"I was around when he got the job at the Chelsea academy and spoke to him about it.

"He got the job there because he spoke Spanish!

"Jose Mourinho wanted someone who knew the British culture and spoke Spanish. Brendan fitted the bill."
