Craig Bellamy set to be named Oxford manager

Former Liverpool and Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy is set to take charge of Oxford United.

The Sun says the Welshman has been talking to the League One strugglers for a couple of weeks and is now poised to accept an attractive contract.

Bellamy has been working as a TV pundit and formed a friendship with Sky's David Jones who also works for Oxford.

Now Bellamy is poised to say yes to the post and may even be in the dug our for the first time at the weekend.

Bellamy had a fiery reputation as a player, falling out with managers at various times, but he has shown willingness to step into that side of the game.

Oxford are happy to give a younger boss a chance and Bellamy is likely to be given senior assistance by current caretaker Derek Fazackerley.
