Wolves defender Richard Stearman is being praised for keeping his cool after being spat upon by Wigan Athletic's Antolin Alcaraz.
Wolves teammate Jody Craddock admitted Stearman did well to keep his composure.
"It's pretty dirty," said Craddock. "I can't remember the last time I saw somebody do it.
"Yes players spit on the floor, that's more common, but to spit at another player is quite a big statement.
"You get sent off for raising your hand to somebody's face now, so surely spitting is the same punishment. To be spat at is going to get you wound up. Stears was quite calm which is a credit to him.
"It might have been different if we were losing, but we were winning and the lads kept their heads which is exactly what you need in that situation. You don't need to react and get yourself sent off."
