Coyle keen to make Man Utd's Powell his first Wigan signing

Wigan Athletic boss Owen Coyle is ready to make Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell his first signing at the DW.

The Sun says he is confident of completing a season-long deal for teenager Powell.

Despite a lack of opportunities at Old Trafford, United rate the 19-year-old highly and will not let him go permanently.

But they are aware Powell needs regular first-team football to aid his development and that is something Coyle can offer.

Coyle will speak to United chief David Moyes to finalise terms next week.
